A Trade Show Needs A Certain Setup

A trade show can do wonders for your business. Before you get all excited about the new contacts that you will get, you have to plan out how you will set up your area. If you don't get the right look and some goodies to hand out then it could flop completely. Usually you get a table or two for your own stuff. A nice cloth that covers the table and goes to the floor is important. Think about using the front of the tablecloth to show your company name. If you have a nicely embroidered logo done huge on the front space, then you have a sign basically. You can use the area under the table that is hidden to store your boxes and whatever else you have with you. That is professional and tidy.

How you want people to be greeted and give out information is crucial. If you teach everyone what you think is a good plan then there is no guesswork at all. The most important thing is making a good impression and giving/getting info. If someone shows more than polite interest, have a way to get their contact info. Remember to bring friendly, untiring people with you as help. It doesn't matter how much some people know about your product if they are not personable. I remember a food show that I was at and wanted some more info on a particular cheese. The greeter was wonderful, but when he tried to get the info we were after from his superior, she was too involved on the phone to pay attention. Not a good plan for future business.

Find a good way to collect peoples personal information like offering some sort of free giveaway if they fill out some paperwork.  This will allow you to use this information to contact prospective new clientele quickly and easily after the show is over.

You have to have some free giveaways to pull people toward your table. The better the stuff, the bigger the crowd. You have to give things carefully. Make people slow down and listen before you part with something. It is OK if those just cruising on by grab a pen or a key-chain. For fancier stuff they will have to hear your whole spiel. That way you get then actually interested.

Before you load up on printed promotional items for your next event, think about what is the best item to hand out. If you are working in the food industry naturally you will be handing out some of your product to be eaten immediately. Most other tables will be doing the same. If you want to stand out in that arena make sure you have something that people can take home with them. A refrigerator magnet that is cute and has company contact info would be perfect.
